MSCDEX.EXE is being loaded in the Autoexec.bat file. Follow these steps to
resolve the problem.
- From the START menu select RUN and type in "sysedit".
- Find the file named AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- Copy the line containing MSCDEX.EXE down on paper.
- Remove all lines including MSCDEX.EXE.
- Close the System Configuration Editor.
- From the START menu select RUN and type in "edit
c:\windows\dosstart.bat".
- Make sure that these is a line that includes MSCDEX.EXE.
- If not then copy the line exactly as it appeared in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
