Floppy drive not working
Light is on steady or flashes regularly.
Check the orientation of the data cable. Make sure that
pin 1 is aligned correctly on both the drive and the motherboard.
Light flashes at startup and then stops.
- Check BIOS settings. Make sure that the BIOS settings
agree with the type of drive.
- Check data cable. Make sure that the cable is connected properly and
tightly.
- Check that the red stripe on the cable is aligned with pin 1 on both the
drive and the motherboard.
- Make sure that the drive is plugged in to the correct plug on the cable.
The A drive at the end and the B drive is on the connector in the middle of the
cable.
Light never comes on.
- Check power cable connection. Make sure that the cable is
connected tightly.
- Try another lead from the power supply.
Floppy reads some disks, but not others
- Heads possibly out of alignment on drive.
