Bad sectors
- Check BIOS settings. Make sure that the size in the
BIOS agrees with the size of the drive.
- Make sure that the drive is set to LBA mode in the BIOS.

Installing a new or second drive.
How many drives are being installed on the system?
Does the drive need to be partitioned and formatted?
- Set drive as master. (See product
info for jumper settings)
- Connect power cable and data cable with the red stripe on the data cable on
the side closer to the power connection.
- Place the drive in the system and secure with screws.

- Set drive C as Master and drive D as Slave. (See
product info for jumper settings)
- Connect power cable and data cable with the red stripe on the data cable on
the side closer to the power connection on both drives.
- Place both drives in the system and secure with screws.

- Install C and D drives as was done with two
drives and connect to the Primary IDE connector on the motherboard.
- Install drive E as was done with one drive and connect
to the Secondary IDE connector on the motherboard.

- Install as two sets of two drives
, but connect the cable from C and D to the Primary IDE and the cable from
E and F to the Secondary IDE.

- Boot from CD-ROM Setup Boot Disk or MS-DOS disk # 1 and
exit program.
- Run FDISK.
- Create new partition and if it is on drive C set it as active.
- For drive C type FORMAT C: /S
- For any other drive type FORMAT X: where X is the drive letter.

Drive is smaller than size ordered.
- The definition of a Megabyte differs by manufacturer.
(1000Kb or 1024Kb)
- The partitioning of a drive and formatting take up some space.
- If the hard drive is larger than 2.1 Gb, then it must be divided into two
partitions (2.5Gb=2.1Gb + 400Mb).

Hard drive is in MS-DOS compatibility mode.
- A device driver and/or virus are conflicting with
the Windows 95 32 bit drivers.
- Remove any hard disk drivers in the autoexec.bat or config.sys files.
- Check for a virus.
